Current passenger service
South Coast Rail passenger service through Lakeville began March 24, 2025, connecting Fall River and New Bedford to Boston, with direct weekday trips (approximately 15 to Fall River and 17 to New Bedford) spaced roughly 70 minutes apart at peak, plus additional connecting/shuttle service.
Each of the three crossings closes for every train passage in both directions — gates down, roadway queue, then gates up — meaning the corridor generates a predictable number of daily interruption events at each location even without any project-related freight.
